The goal of this workshop was to propose a design method for fabrication of light weight structures, inspired by birds flocking behaviors. Therefore, a Python script was developed which stimulated the mathematical algorithm behind this behavioral intelligence.

Structural analysis & agents distribution

The supports of the structure is three rings and the load is applied at the top edges of the shell. The Utilization result was extracted to distinguish stress distribution on the shell. In the next step, the shell was divided to two zones, compression and tension zones, in order to differentiate between two material that can be used in the design and fabrication process in the following steps. Then, some points were populated roughly, based on stress distribution rate. These agents will be considered as the initial agents in the next generative process.

Form Generation

After studying boids behaviors, an algorithm was developed in Python language in GH Python. This component generates some trails which represents the fluctuation path of the initial agents. In this project, the agents were given as an input to the component to increase the tendency of collective behavior of agents in more stressed are.
